Ethereum Classic (ETC) Performs Agharta Hard Fork Successfully

Ethereum Classic (ETC), one of the most popular cryptocurrencies and blockchain networks in the market has recently completed its Agharta hard fork. The new network was forked at block number 9,573,000 on Sunday morning. In this way, the new upgrade is now live on the ETC Mainnet.

Agartha Hard Fork Completed

The Agharta hard fork that experienced the ETC network has been completed after several weeks the community was waiting for it. Parity Ethereu Getc, Multigeth and Besu have already started their synchronization.

Indeed, parity Ethereum reached a synced level of 72% while multigeth is now standing at 89%. Getc and Besu have completed 10% and 100% of their synchronization, respectively.

At the same time, many exchanges and block explorers are already ready. BloclScout, Coin Metrics and Expedition have adapted their services to the new hard fork. 0xETH and etcplanet do not provide information about it.

The exchanges that have already adapted their services to this new implementation include Anycoindirect, Bibox, BigOne, Binance, Binance USA, Bitfinex, Bitflyer, Bittrex, Commonwealth, ChangeNOW, Coinbase, DragonEx, FCoin, HitBTC, Huobi, Kraken, KuCoin, LiveCoin, Okex, Poloniex, Ronance, Saturn Network, WhiteBit and ZB.

Ethereum Classic lost a large part of its community when Ethereum (ETH) forked from the network and decided to reclaim the funds hacked during the DAO hack in 2016. Since that moment, ETC has been trying to recover itself from this situation and it has been moving forward with new proposals and solutions.

The Agartha hard fork aimed at making the ETC client fully compatible with Ethereum. This is something that would bring both communities closer again rather than continuing in different paths. This is something that many ETC enthusiasts have been requesting and working on in the last year.

In a recent interview, ETC Labs CEO Terry Culver explained that Agharta is the first of a series of upgrades that will take place in 2020. Thus, the ETC community should wait for new improvements and solutions in the future.

On the matter, Culver mentioned:

“Agharta is the first of several upgrades scheduled for the next year. In 2020, ETC is poised to collaborate, innovate, and grow.”

Culver considers that the compatibility between ETC and ETH is going to be very important for the Ethereum Classic ecosystem as a whole. This would accelerate the development of the community and of the network.

At the time of writing this article, Ethereum Classic is now being traded around $5.55 and it is the 20th largest digital asset in the market with a valuation of $645 million.
