Institutional investors with millions to buy bitcoin are also gaining billionaire status just a few days into 2021. MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin bet dating between August and September 2020 is paying off well. Its original $425 million investment is now worth over $1.2 billion at the time of writing.

In the meantime, the 1,125,150 BTC linked to Satoshi Nakamoto has been valued at much more than $1 billion for some time. Nonetheless, the current bull run now makes Nakamoto rank among the top 40 richest people globally, with his BTC holdings worth about $37 billion.
