Chris Dunn (@ChrisDunnTV), Chico Crypto (@ChicoCrypto), and BTC Sessions (@BTCsess), three popular YouTubers that have been creating highly informative and educating Bitcoin (BTC) related content on YouTube for several years now, have taken to Twitter to lament that the platform is now flagging their content, labeling it as “harmful and dangerous. This according to tweets on December 24, 2019.

YouTube Declaring War on Cryptos?

At a time when a good number of crypto-related sites are still struggling to overcome the calamity brought upon them by Google’s Core update that went live last June, it appears that YouTube, a video sharing platform acquired by Google in November 2006, is also launching fresh attacks on cryptocurrency-linked content.

Specifically, a handful of content creators on YouTube have alleged that most of their content that has been live on YouTube for several years now jus suddenly got deleted by the administrators of the platform for frivolous reasons, including “harmful or dangerous content,” and the “sale of regulated goods.”

Chris Dunn, one of the affected content creators who says his mission is to help people to learn valuable skills that could enable them to earn more income and build wealth in today’s rapidly evolving economy,  tweeted:

Another long-standing YouTuber, Chico Crypto tweeted:

“So My Channel Is Getting Attacked Right [email protected] @TouTube. Not A Single One of Thee Videos Violates The Community Guidelines. Yet, All Videos Have Been Taken Down, I have A Strike On My Channel & I’m Banned From YouTube For A Week?? OK??? Would Be Nice If I wasn’t.”

The Need for Decentralization

Also, YouTuber @BTCsessions who has suffered the same fate tweeted:

“Well, this is disconcerting @YouTube flagged one of my beginner educational videos from three years ago as “harmful and dangerous.” It was literally a video about wallets, onboarding and places to use Bitcoin. 3 more of these strikes and the channel is shut down.”

Though the real cause of these attacks remains unclear, and YouTube is yet to release an official statement concerning the matter, this latest incident has once again made it clear that the crypto community need to start paying more attention to decentralized social media and content sharing platforms such as D.Tube, DLive, and a host of others.

In related news, on December 11, 2019, BTCManager reported that Jack Dorsey’s Twitter is making plans to develop a decentralized standard for social media.
