Kash Patel sues Defense Department, alleges agency stopped publication of book revealing deep state

Former Pentagon chief of staff and ex-deputy National Intelligence Director Kash Patel has filed a lawsuit against the Defense Department for allegedly stopping him from publishing unclassified information in his upcoming book, “Government Gangsters: The Deep State, the Truth, and the Battle for Our Democracy.”

Patel said Thursday in a Truth Social post that he file the suit because the U.S. government is “illegally censoring and preventing the release” of his book.

The lawsuit alleges in part the department is infringing upon his First Amendment rights and is unreasonable delaying its completion of a  classification review, Breitbart News reported.

Patel said that the review process normally lasts three months, and he gave a copy of his manuscript to the department to review in October, but the agency has yet to complete its review.

Patel says he has contacted the department’s review agency eight times since October 11, 2022, but not progress has been made.

“I’ve discussed when I encountered, corruption and unlawful activity from government officials and I laid it out for Americans to read because I think they are entitled to that,” he said. “And they’re practicing the same retaliation policies they said they never would, like burying my manuscripts.”
