A man has been charged with multiple offences after a woman and her three dogs were all tragically killed in a crash.

Olivia Riley and her golden retrievers died when they were hit by a car in Chelsea, west London in May last year.

Laszlo Dancs, Heathfield Road, W3 is charged with causing death by dangerous driving, drink driving, drug driving and failing to provide a sample of breath when required.

The 28-year-old will appear at the Old Bailey tomorrow after he was charged and appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in November 2022.

Mrs Riley, from Suffolk, was found dead in Cheyne Walk, after officers and paramedics raced to the scene shortly after 6am on May 14, 2022.

The 41-year-old was the stepdaughter of best-selling author Lucinda Riley, who wrote the Seven Sisters series, which sold more than 20 million copies.

She was reportedly helping to manage her stepmother’s estate after her death in June 2021.

House prices in Cheyne Walk average around £3.5million, while Chelsea Embankment which runs parallel has been home to famous residents including Sir Mick Jagger.

In a tribute to Mrs Riley last year, her uncle Mark told MailOnline: ‘She was beautiful, fun-loving, she just lit up the room for everybody.

‘She had to deal with the recent death of her stepmother. The sequence of events is just horrible.

‘Livi just made everyone laugh, she was the most pleasant individual that anybody could hope to meet.’

A Met Police spokesman said at the time: ‘Police were called to Cheyne Walk, SW3, at 06:21hrs on Saturday, 14 May following reports of a road traffic collision involving a car, a pedestrian and three dogs.

‘Officers attended with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service. Olivia was pronounced dead at the scene.

‘It appears she had been walking her three dogs, all golden retrievers, at the time of the incident. They also died as a result of their injuries.’

Last week, a dad was hit and killed by a car just moments after helping ducklings across a busy road in the USA.
