President Biden defends son Hunter in MSNBC interview, claims he has ‘done nothing wrong’

President Joe Biden on Friday defended his son, Hunter Biden, saying that he has done nothing wrong, during an interview on MSNBC.

Hunter is currently under federal investigation and has been since 2018. Initially the probe started because of suspicious activity reports (SARs) regarding suspicious foreign transactions, including funds from “China and other foreign nations,” according to Fox News.

In addition, House Republicans are probing his overseas business deals, with Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) of the House Oversight Committee stating that bank records indicate a possible influence peddling operation involving funds received by Hunter and at least eight other members of the Biden family. The Justice Department is still looking at potential charges of tax fraud and lying on a firearms application, and Hunter is involved in a legal case in Arkansas, in which he fathered a child with a stripper and is now seeking to reduce his $20,000 a month child-support payments, claiming he can no longer afford it.

Yet despite these controversies, the president defended Hunter Biden. “My son has done nothing wrong. I trust him. I have faith in him and it impacts my presidency by making me feel proud of him,” Mr. Biden said in the interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle, reports the Washington Times.

The White House has previously dismissed claims by an IRS special agent who is seeking whistleblower status, who says he has information about political interference in the agency’s handling of the Hunter Biden investigation.
